Somfy and sustainable development challenges
As a leading player in the housing industry for more than 50 years, we are committed to reduce our own CO2 emissions by 50%* by 2030, in line with the objectives approved by the SBTi**. In Europe, Somfy solutions produce two times less CO2 emissions throughout their life cycle***. Somfy's two main levers to reduce our carbon footprint and help our customers reduce theirs are:
*50% reduction in absolute terms for scopes 1 and 2 (direct emissions from gas and fuel) or indirect emissions from energy consumption (electricity), and in relative terms based on the number of products sold for scope 3 (other indirect emissions throughout the entire value chain, i.e. use of our products, purchasing, transport, etc.).
**SBTi: the goal of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is to propose concrete solutions to enable organisations to commit to reducing their emissions according to limited global warming trajectories of 1.5 or 2 °C, in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement (2015).
We propose eco-designed products that have a reduced environmental impact throughout their lifecycle
Achieve 100% of eco-designed products sold
At Somfy, reducing CO₂ emissions is a priority. Since 2015, we have been a leader in the industry in adopting an eco-design approach based on a multi-criteria analysis. This is to minimise environmental impact throughout the product life cycle. Our eco-design standards are central to our industrial processes. They focus on the product phases that have the greatest environmental impact. In line with our commitment, we aim to offer 100% eco-designed products by 2030.
Our approach is based on five criteria:
As part of our eco-design commitment, products meeting these standards receive the PEP Ecopassport® which assesses our rigorous environmental impact calculations. With over 250 PEP Ecopassport® sheets, covering nearly all our best-selling products, Somfy offers one of the most extensive portfolio on the market.
